Imagining How Freedom From Credit Card Debt Would Look Like

This one is a sappy one.

I have debt – over $25,000 of it and let me tell you, it is not fun giving $700+ a month to these credit card companies instead of investing that amount.

I got my very first Discover card when I was 19 years old. Almost 10 years later, that debt has grown to 6 cards and a car, overcomplicating how easy it would be to live without it.

There are times when I think of what those extra $700 could do:

  • Tithe
  • Shopping spree
  • Add to my HYSA
  • Invest in a Roth IRA
  • Save for next month’s rent
  • Gift to my parents
  • Help my partner with their debt

I genuinely love tithing and how it feels like God is watching over my finances when I can give without fear to Him. Those moments feel incredibly special.

Leviticus 27:30: “‘A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.”

The list feels small right now since the opportunities feel small. One day, it will happen!
