Coming from a music writing background, which included owning my own blog for three years taught me tons of how music circulates the internet world.

There are many talented undiscovered artists out there who may do this for fun or are pursuing a career out of music. I found that to support them there had to be a variety of ways to promote their music:

1. Networking events/conferences

Every city with a music scene has opportunities for local artists to connect with other professionals in their field. These events can offer networking opportunities, lectures from professionals, or even placement spots to show off your newest hit. Check on Meetup, Eventbrite, and Facebook groups.

2. Pitching to music blogs directly

There should be a “contact” page on all music blogs. Find who is in charge and how to contact them with your music. Including your background and inspiration is a great way of showing what motivates you and your passion in music.

3. Standing in the street (gorilla marketing) to gift/sell album to people

This can’t only be something from the movies, right?!
